Adani Mine to begin construction within weeks

Adani Mine to begin construction within weeks

Well Adani protestors, it didn’t work out for you, did it? Apart from the vehicles required to create the Adani mine and the vehicles that will be used by staff ongoing, this story by The Car Guy has absolutely nothing to do with the auto industry. Here are the thoughts of

Abarth 695 Rivale Review – Jeremy Clarkson

Abarth 695 Rivale Review – Jeremy Clarkson

Abarth 695 Rivale review: a car so bad, it’s scary Abarth 695C Rivale.  Jeremy Clarkson has a wicked and sharp tongue. And when he doesn’t like a car, he tells us all about it. And with this Fiat, in particular, the scorn level has elevated to supersonic levels. I must

Mazda CX-3 Akari Review – Why Should You Buy

Mazda CX-3 Akari Review – Why Should You Buy

This Mazda CX-3 Akari is finished in Soul Red Crystal Metallic and it’s a colour that you can almost fall in to. Magnificent to say the least. There are a lot of paint colours in the car market but few are as lustrous as this colour. And as I press publish

Kia Cerato Sport Sedan Review – Why Should You Buy

Kia Cerato Sport Sedan Review – Why Should You Buy

Let me state this immediately – I’m a Kia fan and arguably an advocate of the brand from design, usability and definitely from a warranty viewpoint. I’ve commented favourably on all Kia’s I’ve driven – Picanto, Sportage, Sorrento, Stinger and Carnival. I’m driving a Kia Cerato Sport Sedan this week. Kia

New Toyota Corolla Review

2020 Toyota Corolla Scoop – First look

2020 Toyota Corolla sedan revealed: More features, more driver-focused It’s no secret that most car makers first reveal their new models anywhere but here in Australia. We’re considered to be one of the more irrelevant car markets in the world. Recently the first pictures of the Jeep Wrangler Gladiator were

Jeep Wrangler Gladiator Revealed Prior to LA Motor Show

Most manufacturers are sneaky. They have internal leaks – just like politicians leak – when they want the automotive community to know what they’ve got planned. It goes something like this. “Hey Joe, it’s, Mike Man … well, you know it’s me, Joe. Just wanted to let you know that

Concept to Reality – Jeep Wrangler Utility

Concept to Reality – Jeep Wrangler Utility

As a local Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealer from 2003 to 2015, I got involved. along with my then GM, Cameron Semark, in upgrades to a lot of Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge models – Cherokee’s, Grand Cherokee’s, Chrysler 300’s, various Dodge models and of course the iconic Jeep Wrangler. Cameron was a

Kia Carnival Review – Why Should You Buy?

Kia Carnival Review – Why Should You Buy?

Hi, Bob Aldons, The Car Guy with my experiences with the Kia Carnival SLi. I’ve been driving this Kia Carnival SLi around for a week and as the week has rolled by, I’ve come to be more comfortable in it than I was on the first day. In fact, as

Jeep Wrangler Gladiator Revealed Prior to LA Motor Show

It’s not a Jeep Scrambler, It’s a Jeep Gladiator.

Jeep pickup truck apparently will be named Jeep Gladiator – Russell will be pleased. Scrambler sounded like something you’d have for breakfast, anyway Hi Bob Aldons, former Jeep dealer with comments from autoblog.com on the forthcoming Jeep Wrangler Pick Up. Years ago, I travelled to the USA (Florida actually) for a

Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Review – Why Should You Buy?

Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Review – Why Should You Buy?

From 2008 until selling my dealerships in 2015, I was a Volkswagen dealer based at Redcliffe, just north of Brisbane. And it was a special time – I was a bit hesitant taking on the franchise, hearing all sorts of problems that Australian dealers had with the German senior management

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my new website thecarguy.com.au!

I know that there’s a lot of websites that offer car reviews, car road tests, opinions on various cars and the like. What makes this site different is that I’m not going to bore you with technical information about the various cars that I review.

I’ve been in the car business for over 39 years. I’ve read the motoring magazines cover to cover. I’ve read the online reviews until my eyes were square. Everywhere that I go, I find motoring journalists talking about car speeds – 0 – 100 km per hour, standing ¼ times, the inclination of this and that at 150klm per hour on a 12.5% gradient curve, in rainy weather – and other stuff that bores me no end.

thecarguy.com.au is taking a different path on the journey to helping you purchase a new car. I’ll do my best to advise you on what I consider to be the most important information when it comes to that major decision to purchase a car. Interior room, features of the car, fuel economy, safety, service prices, resale and lots more. I’ll tell you what I like about a particular car and as importantly, what I don’t like, to find at least to be less than I think a car should have. .

And I’ll ask for your opinion. Take some pics of what you’re driving and tell me and our audience what you particularly like or dislike about your car. Because besides prospective new car buyers, there’s a lot of people who’ll read your comments as used car buyers.

So, jump on board, strap yourself in and let’s start out on the journey with The Car Guy.
