Introduction – Kia EV6 Not so many years ago, Wheels Magazine was the only publication awarding (or not at all in some years) a Car of the Year. We, the motoring press, even use COTY to understand the terminology. It’s become the Aussie venacular. Fast forward and it seems that
Get off road and dirty in the Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior Nissan came late to the party that is the hot ute market. But that lateness provided Nissan and partner Premcar with the opportunity to get the Navara just right, at least from a performance standing. The Nissan Navara Pro

The all new Kia Sportage is creating waves I’ve been in this car business for 44 years this year (16/2/1978) and the industry has come a LONG way in that time. Coincidentally I parked the vehicle the subject of this review (new Kia Sportage Gt-Line) next to a 12 year
Arguably the most ‘modern’ car design released onto the Australian market in 2021 is the Hyundai Ioniq 5 So perhaps you’re thinking that I’m some sort of car expert? Well, after 43 years in the auto industry as a salesman, manager and owner of dealerships, I think I am. The
If you’re looking for an affordable medium sized SUV, you really need to test drive the Haval H6 Lux. So perhaps you’re thinking that I’m some sort of car expert? Well, after 43 years in the auto industry as a salesman, manager and owner of dealerships, I think I am.
I didn’t really know what to expect when I picked up the GWM Cannon L Dual Cab but here’s why you should consider it I’ve driven Great Wall Utes and SUV’s from the time they launched in Australia. Cheap and cheerful normally applies to lower quality cars whether they’re new
Over the last many years, I’ve represented customers in actions against Ford Motor Company of Australia. Faulty transmissions in their Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus models have caused unforgivable angst for owners. And the attitude of Ford in Australia towards these claims has been deplorable And as someone who worked
When they dropped the mid-screen rear spoiler from the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, they took away some of the objections potential buyers had. That was one of my first issues when the Eclipse Cross launched in Australia a number of years ago. More of a Sportback style, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross slotted
If you’ve been driving around in a small car (think Hyundai i30) or even a medium SUV ( Hyundai Tucson) then jumping into a Hyundai Staria will be a big shock At least that’s been my experience in the week with the new Hyundai people-mover. Hyundai loaned me a new
Hello and welcome to my new website thecarguy.com.au!
I know that there’s a lot of websites that offer car reviews, car road tests, opinions on various cars and the like. What makes this site different is that I’m not going to bore you with technical information about the various cars that I review.
I’ve been in the car business for over 39 years. I’ve read the motoring magazines cover to cover. I’ve read the online reviews until my eyes were square. Everywhere that I go, I find motoring journalists talking about car speeds – 0 – 100 km per hour, standing ¼ times, the inclination of this and that at 150klm per hour on a 12.5% gradient curve, in rainy weather – and other stuff that bores me no end.
thecarguy.com.au is taking a different path on the journey to helping you purchase a new car. I’ll do my best to advise you on what I consider to be the most important information when it comes to that major decision to purchase a car. Interior room, features of the car, fuel economy, safety, service prices, resale and lots more. I’ll tell you what I like about a particular car and as importantly, what I don’t like, to find at least to be less than I think a car should have. .
And I’ll ask for your opinion. Take some pics of what you’re driving and tell me and our audience what you particularly like or dislike about your car. Because besides prospective new car buyers, there’s a lot of people who’ll read your comments as used car buyers.
So, jump on board, strap yourself in and let’s start out on the journey with The Car Guy.
