Hi, Bob Aldons, The Car Guy, reporting in on my review of the Suzuki Swift GLX. I was a Suzuki dealer in 2004 when Suzuki first released the then all new Swift. A few dealers and I went to Japan to see the manufacturing plant where Swift was built. Swift
“There’s got to be a morning after” was a song by Maureen McGovern for the movie The Poseidon Adventure way back in 1973. I’m thinking that the employees of GMH, Ford, Toyota must be humming that same tune this morning. Good morning. Bob Aldons, The Car Guy, reporting to
General Motors Holden is taking the biggest gamble of their time with the introduction of the Opel Commodore VXR due for launch in early 2018. Whilst maintaining the Commodore name, Holden is asking the historical buying public to overlook that this car is manufactured in Europe for Australia and other
Hi, Bob Aldons, The Car Guy, with some information from Nissan Australia to coincide with the Gold Coast 600. Nissan is one of the few manufacturers promoting the use of genuine replacement parts rather than allowing the non-genuine and grey parts market to take control. As a former franchise dealer
Hi, Bob Aldons, The Car Guy, with some information about the Skoda Octavia RS 245. The ‘second’ brand of Volkswagen has struggled over their time in Australia, trying to get a foothold. Skoda however shouldn’t be discounted too much – they do build a very good vehicle, albeit using Volkswagen
Hello, Bob Aldons, The Car Guy, with some late-breaking information from Holden Australia. Over the years Holden has used the Storm nomenclature to market limited editions of some of their model line-up Commodore, Commodore Ute and now the Holden Colorado Storm 4×4 Crew Cab based on the LTZ model. Who
The new 2018 Range Rover promises to be the harbinger of advances in Luxury motoring when it arrives in Australia late 2017 or early 2018. Hi, Bob Aldons, The Car Guy, reporting in on the new Range Rover. Frankly, I wasn’t a fan of this truly British marque for a
Hello, Bob Aldons, The Car Guy, with a press release from Holden. It’s a singular shame that General Motors Holden’s vehicle range is still lacking the quality of so many of the other brands in the market. Our Australian Holden’s are built around the world – Europe, Korea and soon
Hi, Bob Aldons, The Car Guy, responding to some irresponsible journalism from Rita Bonivento and posted on the AutoGuru website about your New Car Warranty. The Auto Guru website is privately owned it seems and is an independent workshop provider – they sign up workshops and do the marketing for them.
I helped facilitate the purchase of a 2017 Nissan Patrol to a customer a few months ago. I was a bit surprised that someone from Chinchilla didn’t want a Toyota 200 Landcruiser, but in his wife’s words – I wanted something different – everyone has a Cruiser out our way.
I know that there’s a lot of websites that offer car reviews, car road tests, opinions on various cars and the like. What makes this site different is that I’m not going to bore you with technical information about the various cars that I review.
I’ve been in the car business for over 39 years. I’ve read the motoring magazines cover to cover. I’ve read the online reviews until my eyes were square. Everywhere that I go, I find motoring journalists talking about car speeds – 0 – 100 km per hour, standing ¼ times, the inclination of this and that at 150klm per hour on a 12.5% gradient curve, in rainy weather – and other stuff that bores me no end.
thecarguy.com.au is taking a different path on the journey to helping you purchase a new car. I’ll do my best to advise you on what I consider to be the most important information when it comes to that major decision to purchase a car. Interior room, features of the car, fuel economy, safety, service prices, resale and lots more. I’ll tell you what I like about a particular car and as importantly, what I don’t like, to find at least to be less than I think a car should have. .
And I’ll ask for your opinion. Take some pics of what you’re driving and tell me and our audience what you particularly like or dislike about your car. Because besides prospective new car buyers, there’s a lot of people who’ll read your comments as used car buyers.
So, jump on board, strap yourself in and let’s start out on the journey with The Car Guy.
