In all honesty, I don’t think there’s a bad car sold in the Australian car market – there certainly were some, but the current crop in 2020 is arguably as good a bunch as I’ve ever seen. So I was pretty pleased to jump into the MY21 Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain
Ok, it’s time for all the other utes on the Australian market to take some lumps. ANCAP has just announced the awarding of a 5-Star rating for Australia’s newest ute, the Isuzu D-Max. (And yes, LDV T60 has a five-star rating, but that vehicle was tested against 2017 criteria and
Arguably the most anticipated launch this year is the all-new Mazda BT-50. Designed in concert with Isuzu and built in Thailand, Mazda owners will gravitate to the brand rather than any other. Mazda’s sense of customer responsiveness will be enhanced by the reputation of the bones of this new ute.
Isuzu D-Max may be one of the last to the party, but the 2020 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is one stonking looking truck. Upgraded to 140Kw of power, the most reliable four-door ute on the market in Australia is due in early 2020, but don’t ask Isuzu Ute Australia for information-
“Can you build me a vehicle that we can use to go to church on Sunday, without getting wet, and that my husband can use to take the pigs to market on Monday?” When Lew Bandt first developed the utility in 1933 I’m positive he would never have considered how
When Hitoshi Kono first approached me in 2008 to establish Northstar Isuzu Ute for Brisbane North he said to me: Bob San – “We build very good vehicles”. ” If you take this brand, you will make money and have very satisfied customers who will come back and buy

Hi, Bob Aldons, The Car Guy, and former Isuzu Ute dealer helping to celebrate IUA’s 10th anniversary in Australia.Back in early 2008, the then and first managing director of Isuzu Ute Australia, Hitoshi Kono, and his right-hand man, Takeshi ‘Kasa” Kasahara approached me and my business partner with a view to taking on a brand new franchise, Isuzu Ute. Hello and welcome to my new website thecarguy.com.au!
I know that there’s a lot of websites that offer car reviews, car road tests, opinions on various cars and the like. What makes this site different is that I’m not going to bore you with technical information about the various cars that I review.
I’ve been in the car business for over 39 years. I’ve read the motoring magazines cover to cover. I’ve read the online reviews until my eyes were square. Everywhere that I go, I find motoring journalists talking about car speeds – 0 – 100 km per hour, standing ¼ times, the inclination of this and that at 150klm per hour on a 12.5% gradient curve, in rainy weather – and other stuff that bores me no end.
thecarguy.com.au is taking a different path on the journey to helping you purchase a new car. I’ll do my best to advise you on what I consider to be the most important information when it comes to that major decision to purchase a car. Interior room, features of the car, fuel economy, safety, service prices, resale and lots more. I’ll tell you what I like about a particular car and as importantly, what I don’t like, to find at least to be less than I think a car should have. .
And I’ll ask for your opinion. Take some pics of what you’re driving and tell me and our audience what you particularly like or dislike about your car. Because besides prospective new car buyers, there’s a lot of people who’ll read your comments as used car buyers.
So, jump on board, strap yourself in and let’s start out on the journey with The Car Guy.
