Got a spare $8 million dollars? Michael Schumacher winning 2002 Ferarri is going to auction on November 30th

I stumbled across this website last night about the potential sale at auction of the Michael Schumacher 2002 Ferrari.

“The Ferrari F2002 that Michael Schumacher steered to the 2002 title crown — his fifth championship out of seven accomplished — is now up for sale at illustrious auction house RM Sotheby’s. It’s one of the crown jewels of the group’s Abu Dhabi sale on November 30, with a portion of the day’s proceeds going to the Keep Fighting Foundation; a non-profit designed to keep Schumacher’s charity work going in his current absence.

The car in question is known as chassis no. 219. It debuted at the official F1 test at the beginning of the season in Barrichello’s hands, before making its first competitive start at April’s San Marino Grand Prix. Curiously Barichello used the chassis in qualifying for the Imola event, before swapping with Schumacher for the race itself (a race that he naturally ended up winning)”.

“After its retirement from competition, chassis 219 was sold by the Scuderia to a Japanese collector, who also purchased chassis 220. Chassis 219 was purchased in 2012 with proceeds going to charity and has been residing in the collection of the consignor ever since,” says RM Sotheby’s.

“Importantly, following the auction, both the engine and transmission of the F2002 will be completely rebuilt by Ferrari, and this cost will be covered by the consignor.

“The car will be delivered and formally handed over to the winning bidder at Fiorano. Ideal for use in Corse Clienti and other demonstration events, this represents a rare opportunity to purchase one of the ultimate ‘Schumacher-era’ Ferraris—as well as one of the most iconic and successful Formula One designs of all.”

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my new website thecarguy.com.au!

I know that there’s a lot of websites that offer car reviews, car road tests, opinions on various cars and the like. What makes this site different is that I’m not going to bore you with technical information about the various cars that I review.

I’ve been in the car business for over 39 years. I’ve read the motoring magazines cover to cover. I’ve read the online reviews until my eyes were square. Everywhere that I go, I find motoring journalists talking about car speeds – 0 – 100 km per hour, standing ¼ times, the inclination of this and that at 150klm per hour on a 12.5% gradient curve, in rainy weather – and other stuff that bores me no end.

thecarguy.com.au is taking a different path on the journey to helping you purchase a new car. I’ll do my best to advise you on what I consider to be the most important information when it comes to that major decision to purchase a car. Interior room, features of the car, fuel economy, safety, service prices, resale and lots more. I’ll tell you what I like about a particular car and as importantly, what I don’t like, to find at least to be less than I think a car should have. .

And I’ll ask for your opinion. Take some pics of what you’re driving and tell me and our audience what you particularly like or dislike about your car. Because besides prospective new car buyers, there’s a lot of people who’ll read your comments as used car buyers.

So, jump on board, strap yourself in and let’s start out on the journey with The Car Guy.
