Just two years from launch, the Grim Reaper has swung the scythe. Mercedes-Benz has announced the untimely death of the X-Class.
Based on the successful Nissan Navara, Mercedes would have undoubtedly thought they had a winner with the X-Class. After all, they had a good deal price-wise with Nissan. But, European manufacturers sometimes get lost in their own superiority – the three-pointed star just didn’t justify the high asking price.
So come mid-2020, X-Class will finish production and then it’s down to their dealers to clear out months and months of supply. My guess is that if you want to purchase one, you’ll have a great opportunity to get it cheap. But you’d better hang onto it – resale value, three-pointed star or not, will be terrible.
