Merry Christmas everyone. Hasn’t 2020 been a challenge for us all? Can you remember back to December 2019?
In Australia, our country over Christmas time was battling the worst bushfires in recent memory and how can we forget the magnificent efforts of the Rural Fire Services around the country. And the animals – my lasting memory of the fires was “Lewis” the little Koala who was rescued by a passer-by. He failed to recover from his injuries, but it did leave a lasting impression.
And then hot on the heels of the bushfires came Corona Virus – Covid 19. Now, whether it occurred naturally in the wet markets of Wuhan, or was created in a lab somewhere, it’s shaken the whole world. In Australia, we’ve managed to escape the worst of it, but that doesn’t say that the 908 and more people who died should ever be forgotten or their lives diminished in any way. Is there a class-action coming against the Victorian Government? I hope so.
And those 25,424 people that recovered, will argubaly have that lasting debilitation for a long time.
So, to everyone, please enjoy your festive season but remember to stay safe – social distance and sanitize.
In 2019, I sent you a Christmas wish featuring ‘Linus’ from the Peanuts clan. Another of the lasting memories of my youth was The Flinstones. And the particular show that is still in my memory is A Fred Flinstone Christmas. That episode was released in 1977 – that’s 43 years ago when I was but a spritely 20 and just starting off in the car business with Torque Ford
So I’ve pinched the video from Youtube – play it once to see and then play it a second time and pay close attention to the words that Fred sings.
“Christmas is my favourtie time of year because everyone becomes a Santa Claus”
Suzi and I would like to sincerely thank all our customers who’ve purchased from us over the 5 years since Car Business kicked off in September 2015. One of the real benefits of what we do is the lasting relationships that we’ve formed with customers from Torque Group, Northstar Motor Group and new friends that have trusted us with their car purchase since 2015
Up until now, December 2020, we’ve delivered hundreds of new cars and, believe it or not saved our customers over $1,800,000 over what they’d have paid directly through a dealer.
Not that dealers do a really poor job, but our process takes away the stress and anxiety from dealing with inexperienced salespeople and on top of that, because we’re buying a LOT of new cars, we’re getting prices that no dealer wants to sell at to a retail customer.
We’re spending Christmas at home in Sandgate this year. With my mum having hit the wonderful age of 90, it’s a bit hard to catch up with Suzi’s parents who live in Newcastle and Bundaberg. We’ll do a quick road trip to Bundy before Christmas to see her dad, and have an early Christmas with my youngest daughter and her partner a few days before Christmas day. My youngest is travelling to Sydney for Christmas with her partners family.
My ‘big’ girl and her family were due here in Australia from Switzerland in June this year, but COVID prevented that from happening. We haven’t seen her since June 2018. While Facetime is a wonderful thing, there’s nothing better than real hugs and kisses. Hopefully, we’ll see each other live in 2021
So, in closing, please accept Suzi’s and my best wishes for Christmas 2020 – may you receive everything you wish for and that you and your family have a safe and holy Christmas too.
Bob and Suzi
