Channel 9 News in Queensland approached me recently to comment on the incidence of odometer fraud on used cars
Late in 2022, Queensland Police raided a business in Logan. They were looking for people winding back odometers on fairly late model 4WD’s and SUV’s, And they determined that up to 700 cars had been subject to that fraud. So what is odometer fraud and how can you avoid the problem or determine whether you’ve been had.
Clare Todhunter and I had a good chat and I showed her the devices that the crims are using.
If you think you’ve been subjected to odometer fraud, you should call the Office of Fair Trading on 13 74 68. If you’re thinking about buying a second hand car now, be careful. Ask for the service history – and if there isn’t any available, walk away.
Or you can always call me – I’ll give you some tips so you can avoid being ripped off. My number is 0418 748 498
