Skoda Karoq -

Skoda is one of the lesser-known Volkswagen Group brands and that group is extensive. Volkswagen, Lamborghini, Seat. Porsche and even Bugatti are part and parcel of the German company. Skoda has been an almost forgotten part of the Australian market for a while but recently they’ve enjoyed a bit of a resurgence when Volkswagen decided to equip them with up to date technology and design rather than hand-me-downs from Volkswagen.

Here’s todays press releases from Skoda about the Skoda Karoq

19th June 2020

Whether it’s the ultimate in urban utility or sure-footed four-wheel-drive performance that you want, there’s a ŠKODA Karoq to fit into your life.

Skoda Karoq - Style and Substance
Powered by the Volkswagen Group’s 2.0-litre turbo petrol EA888, the Sportline puts 140kW and 320Nm to the road via a 7-speed DQ381 DSG transmission and all-wheel-drive.

Starting from $32,990, the 2020 Karoq 110TSI is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine that puts out 110kW/250Nm via an 8-speed Aisin transmission and the front wheels. The family-focussed Karoq variant comes standard with Varioflex, the fixture that enables the complete removal of the back seats.

With rear seats fitted and fully pushed back, the KAROQ’s luggage compartment affords 479 litres. Push these seats forward and the space increases to 588 litres. Fold them flat and you have 1605 litres. Take them out – a task easily accomplished – and there’s a massive 1810 litres to fill.

The long awaited Karoq 140TSI Sportline 4×4 starts at $39,990.

Powered by the Volkswagen Group’s 2.0-litre turbo petrol EA888, the Sportline puts 140kW and 320Nm to the road via a 7-speed DQ381 DSG transmission and all-wheel-drive. Drive Mode Select is standard.

Riding on 19-inch Vega alloys, the Sportline features a black accented body kit and full LED headlights with adaptive front light system. The look is carried over within with features including a multifunction sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles, perforated leather upholstery and stainless steel pedals. Virtual Cockpit is standard as is Adaptive Cruise Control, Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

Skoda Karoq - European Luxury
Luxury and technology abounds in the Skoda Karoq

The 140TSI Sportline is the second ŠKODA Australia model to be fitted with a petrol particulate filter, an item key to its availability.

“This version of the Karoq, the sporting choice, is built at our Czech factory with a filtered engine,” ŠKODA Australia Director Michael Irmer said. “We emphasise the necessity of using premium fuel only. You’ll be rewarded with the most engaging drive of any SUV at this price.”

The Karoq has been available as a front-wheel-drive variant only since 2018 with limited availability. The renewed Karoq’s arrival, along with the Kodiaq RS earlier this year and the compact Kamiq in August, completes the growing European brand’s SUV range.

Skoda Karoq - Room for Plenty of Luggage
Plenty of functional room in the Skoda Karoq – even better when the second-row seats are down.

“ŠKODA customers are almost uniquely informed and engaged,” Mr Irmer said. “They will appreciate that the Karoq comes in two distinct versions, that both satisfy almost contrasting purposes but jointly embody the character that distinguishes ŠKODAs both from price competitors and far more expensive brands.

“As 2020 will be the first year that ŠKODA Australia will sell more SUVs than passenger cars, it’s fitting that there are now two Simply Clever Karoqs.”

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my new website thecarguy.com.au!

I know that there’s a lot of websites that offer car reviews, car road tests, opinions on various cars and the like. What makes this site different is that I’m not going to bore you with technical information about the various cars that I review.

I’ve been in the car business for over 39 years. I’ve read the motoring magazines cover to cover. I’ve read the online reviews until my eyes were square. Everywhere that I go, I find motoring journalists talking about car speeds – 0 – 100 km per hour, standing ¼ times, the inclination of this and that at 150klm per hour on a 12.5% gradient curve, in rainy weather – and other stuff that bores me no end.

thecarguy.com.au is taking a different path on the journey to helping you purchase a new car. I’ll do my best to advise you on what I consider to be the most important information when it comes to that major decision to purchase a car. Interior room, features of the car, fuel economy, safety, service prices, resale and lots more. I’ll tell you what I like about a particular car and as importantly, what I don’t like, to find at least to be less than I think a car should have. .

And I’ll ask for your opinion. Take some pics of what you’re driving and tell me and our audience what you particularly like or dislike about your car. Because besides prospective new car buyers, there’s a lot of people who’ll read your comments as used car buyers.

So, jump on board, strap yourself in and let’s start out on the journey with The Car Guy.
