Volkswagen Polo Urban

Volkswagen Polo, in its current iteration, is due to be replaced in 2018. Production is expected to start late in 2017 with a launch in the first quarter of 2018, dependent on an effective run out of the current model. To achieve a smooth reduction, Volkswagen has introduced a couple of special models to assist.

Manufacturers reduce prices to effect a run-out, but against the grain, Volkswagen historically uses a combination of price and special editions. This time around, VW have just introduced the Polo Urban and Urban+ replacing the Trendline and Comfortline.

Here’s what the Volkswagen Public Relations department have to say about this

“Volkswagen Group Australia has replaced its outgoing Polo and Trendline and Comfortline variants with two purpose-built editions.

The Polo Urban and Urban+ special models carry the award-winning city hatchback until the arrival in March of the new from the wheels up Generation Six Polo.

Both new variants retain the drive away pricing of the outgoing Trendline and Comfortline.

Supplanting the Trendline, the Polo Urban adds $1500 worth of additional features. The Urban adds 15″ Tosca alloys, leather steering wheel, parking brake and gear shift knob, Multi-Function Display (MFD), illuminated vanity mirrors and Urban badging.

Coming in for the Comfortline, the Urban+ adds more than $3000 in value to become the premium Polo. It includes 16″ Portago alloys, front fog lights, dark tinted windows, automatic headlights, driver fatigue detection, rain sensing wipers, and Urban+ badging. Enhanced interior treatment includes heated comfort sport front seats with Alcantara trim, climate control air conditioning, auto dimming rear view mirror, front foot well lighting and chrome and silver decorative trim highlights.

A new Driver Assistance Package ($1800) available for the Urban+, features Front Assist with City Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Discover Media navigation system and parking distance sensors for front and rear. Metallic or pearlescent paint adds $500. The palette now includes Flash Red from the Polo GTI.

Both variants run Volkswagen’s 1.2-litre turbo four, tuned for 66kW/160Nm in the Urban and 81kW/175Nm in the Urban+.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my new website thecarguy.com.au!

I know that there’s a lot of websites that offer car reviews, car road tests, opinions on various cars and the like. What makes this site different is that I’m not going to bore you with technical information about the various cars that I review.

I’ve been in the car business for over 39 years. I’ve read the motoring magazines cover to cover. I’ve read the online reviews until my eyes were square. Everywhere that I go, I find motoring journalists talking about car speeds – 0 – 100 km per hour, standing ¼ times, the inclination of this and that at 150klm per hour on a 12.5% gradient curve, in rainy weather – and other stuff that bores me no end.

thecarguy.com.au is taking a different path on the journey to helping you purchase a new car. I’ll do my best to advise you on what I consider to be the most important information when it comes to that major decision to purchase a car. Interior room, features of the car, fuel economy, safety, service prices, resale and lots more. I’ll tell you what I like about a particular car and as importantly, what I don’t like, to find at least to be less than I think a car should have. .

And I’ll ask for your opinion. Take some pics of what you’re driving and tell me and our audience what you particularly like or dislike about your car. Because besides prospective new car buyers, there’s a lot of people who’ll read your comments as used car buyers.

So, jump on board, strap yourself in and let’s start out on the journey with The Car Guy.
