Born to create – the brand new Genesis GV70

Just after I’m finishing with the two Genesis models currently available here in Australia, the Genesis G80 and GV80, Genesis has today announced the impending release of the GV70.

Genesis GV70 is a medium SUV, but well in the mould of the GV80.

The brand new Genesis GV70 brings unprecedented luxury to the medium SUV market.

Offered with a choice of turbocharged powertrains, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive with optional Sport Line and Luxury Packages

GV70 is set for launch in Australia in Q2 2021

9 March, 2021 – Genesis Motors Australia is pleased to announce the introduction of the brand new GV70, our first-ever medium SUV, which will be available for sale locally in Q2 2021.

The first-ever Genesis GV70 is offered with a choice of three turbocharged powertrains, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and either rear- or all-wheel drive, with extensive standard equipment, and optional Sport Line and Luxury Packages.

The GV70 embodies the Genesis ‘Athletic Elegance’ design philosophy, with breathtaking proportions created by a long dashboard to front axle ratio and short overhangs, to accentuate the vehicle’s dynamic, rear-wheel drive architecture.

The signature Crest grille with G-Matrix pattern and the two-stripe Quad Lamp headlights are born out of the Genesis emblem crest and wings, to showcase the Genesis Design Identity.

GV70’s interior is inspired by the Korean ‘Beauty of White Space’ architectural philosophy, which carefully balances function and tranquillity to create an open, uncluttered cabin with a sporty, driver-focused instrument layout.

Inspired by the simple, yet dynamic forms of airplane wings and fuselages, the cabin uses elliptical shapes to maximise the sense of volume, creating a luxurious aesthetic that is a perfect match for the sporty exterior.

The first-ever GV70 takes the Genesis strengths of driving comfort and quietness and adds confident, dynamic driving performance and new technologies, to deliver a refreshingly luxurious medium SUV experience.

“We are delighted to announce the introduction of the brand new GV70, as our second Genesis SUV in Australia,” Genesis Motors Australia CEO, Jun Heo said.

“The first-ever GV70 applies the Genesis Athletic Elegance design philosophy to the medium SUV while showcasing an array of advanced safety and technology, all to deliver unprecedented luxury,” he said.

OVERVIEW: GENESIS GV70

The first-ever GV70 is offered with a choice of three engines, a refined in-house developed eight-speed automatic transmission, and either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The range opening Genesis GV70 2.5T is powered by a 224kW, 422Nm 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine driving the rear wheels.

In the GV70 2.5T AWD this engine is teamed with an electronically controlled Genesis AWD system.

The Genesis GV70 2.2D AWD pairs a new 154kW, 440Nm all-aluminium 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine with electronically controlled Genesis AWD.

The flagship Genesis GV70 3.5T AWD Sport features a, 279kW, 530Nm twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre petrol V6, also paired with electronically controlled Genesis AWD, and an exclusive electro-mechanical Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) on the rear axle.

Every GV70 includes the safety of eight airbags, with a centre side airbag between the front seats to prevent serious injuries due to potential driver and passenger collision, in the event of a side impact.

Every Genesis GV70 features a panorama sunroof, adjustable ambient lighting, an acoustic laminated windshield and front door glass, genuine leather-appointed seats and stitched leather-appointed dashboard and door trims.

Standard conveniences include 12-way power adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, reclining rear seats, remote start via Smart Key, a power operated tailgate with hands-free opening, and manual sun-shades for the rear doors.

Infotainment features include a 14.5-inch HD touch screen display, navigation with Augmented Reality (AR) view function and live traffic updates, integrated controller with handwriting recognition, digital radio (DAB+), and Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto compatibility.

There is also a nine-speaker Genesis audio system, wireless (Qi standard) smartphone charging, and dual-zone climate control with temperature control for the second row.

The Brand New GV70 can be further enhanced with the availability of optional Sport Line and Luxury Packages.

The Sport Line Package for GV70 brings 19-inch Sport Line alloy wheels, a sport brake package, large caliber dual exhaust finishers, and a Sport+ drive mode.

It also incorporates a Sport Line exterior package including Sport front and rear bumpers, gloss black sport radiator grille, front skid plate and roof rails, and dark chrome radiator grille surround and window frame trims.

Inside the Sport Line package includes Nappa Leather and suede appointed sport seats, and a suede headlining and pillars, a sport steering wheel, sport alloy pedals, sport aluminium trim, and sport gauges for oil temperature, torque and turbo boost.

The Luxury Package for GV70 introduces additional Genesis Active Safety Control technologies, including Forward Attention Warning (FAW) and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist – Rear (PCA-R) systems.

There is also an Intelligent Front-Lighting System (IFS), puddle lamps with Genesis logo, rear privacy glass and, for 3.5T AWD Sport or Sport Line Package versions, 21-inch alloy wheels.

The cabin is enriched with Nappa Leather appointed seats and a suede headlining and pillars, a quilted seat pattern and 3D effect backlit trim.

Additional features include a 12.3-inch full screen Instrument Cluster with 3D function, a Head Up Display (HUD), driver position memory system, power tilt/telescopic adjustable steering column, an advanced fingerprint authentication system, and 1050 watt, 16-speaker Lexicon® by HARMAN audio. 

There is also a Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) system, an 18-way adjustable driver’s seat, an ergo motion massage function for driver’s seat, a passenger seat walk-in switch, a heated steering wheel and second-row seats, and three-zone climate control.

The first-ever GV70 offers ample choice, with 11 exterior colours (eight gloss and three matte), eight interior colours and four interior trim inserts, to allow customers to personalise their SUV.
