Hi Bob Aldons, The Car Guy, with a video review from Tom Holland of Throttle House on the Kia Stinger GT V6.
I reported on the Kia Stinger 330Si and 2.0 GT Line some months ago and there’s nothing in the ensuing time that has caused me to change my mind. In Canada, where Tom has based the price of this car is, the Kia Stinger GT is $50k. In Australia, we’re paying a lot more – $60,000 and a great question to ask is why?
Firstly, if you use exchange rates in your calculation, $49,000 Canadian Dollars is $51,450 Australian Dollars. So the price differential is really $9540. And if you ask why again, it’s probably that Kia can charge any price that they want to and the Stinger will be priced to the market here in our country.
And more – I’m due to replace my 2017 BMW M3 in November. And I case you’re wondering why it all comes down to $$. I can buy a new M3 for around $135,000 whereas alternatives are this Kia Stinger at $60k or a Ford Mustang for $75k. I don’t really need an M3 – I don’t get a great opportunity to drive one as it needs to be. I’m concerned at the safety aspect of the Ford Mustang, which only scores 3 stars in the latest variant.
Kia Stinger GT is powerful enough, safe with an ANCAP rating of 5-stars and well, it looks great.
