Whats an Holden Equinox? Or how about just an Equinox? According to all things Google, here’s the definition.
equinox
noun
- the time or date (twice each year) at which the sun crosses the celestial equator when day and night are of equal length (about 22 September and 20 March).
It’s really strange how manufacturers choose the names for their cars. I get that Ferrari wants a numerical nomenclature for their cars – 488, 458, 899 and so on. Lamborghini started naming their cars after individual bulls – after-all, that’s the logo on every car. So where does Holden Equinox come from – surely they want to sell more cars than the times the sun crosses the equator. Nonetheless, I’m sure that Holden will have done many clinics asking typical SUV buyers their thoughts on the name but more importantly what they think/thought of the actual vehicle. But there are dangers in naming a vehicle that doesn’t resonate with the buying public. Good luck with this one GMH – introducing Holden Equinox

Combined with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol, the nine-speed auto powertrain that boasts more power than its nearest competitor along with the Aussie engineering know how that’s ensured Holdens for generations have been great to drive means exciting times for SUV lovers in Australia.
“Holden Equinox is a game-changer for Holden and will undoubtedly battle it out at the top of the mid-size SUV segment,” said Holden’s Executive Director – Sales, Michael Filazzola.

“We’ve got premium features like a dual-panel panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, and safety alert driver’s seat that gives a small vibration to warn drivers of potential hazards. Not to mention Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a rear-view camera as standard across the range.
“In terms of practicality, Holden Equinox has a huge cargo space of 1798 litres when the fold-flat seats are down, a hands-free power tailgate and one of the highest towing capacities in the segment.
“With the range starting at $27,990 and a launch offer including seven year/175,000km warranty this car provides outstanding value to our customers.”
