Mitsubishi Outlander Exceed Tourer PHEV

In a world where sustainability and technological advancement are increasingly crucial, the automotive industry finds itself at a crossroads. It’s not merely about designing cars anymore; it’s about crafting vehicles that align with the ethos of the future. Enter the Mitsubishi Outlander Exceed Tourer PHEV, a testament to the fusion of eco-consciousness and cutting-edge engineering.

I was a Mitsubishi dealer (Northstar Mitsubishi) from 2000 until 2012. Whilst the range of vehicles during those years was very good, dealers nowadays are spoilt for choice. Primarily an SUV and LCV brand, Mitsubishi has a class leading range with an excellent industry leading warranty coverage

At first glance, the Outlander Exceed Tourer PHEV commands attention with its sleek, aerodynamic silhouette. The design exudes modernity while retaining the rugged appeal associated with SUVs. The refined front grille, coupled with intricate LED headlights, imparts a sense of sophistication. From every angle, it’s evident that Mitsubishi has meticulously sculpted this vehicle to stand out on the road.

Interior

Step inside, and the Outlander Exceed Tourer PHEV envelops you in comfort and sophistication. The interior is thoughtfully crafted, with premium materials adorning every surface. Plush leather seats welcome passengers, providing ample support for long journeys. The spacious cabin ensures that every passenger enjoys a luxurious experience, with generous legroom and an array of amenities at their disposal.

Technological innovation takes center stage in the Outlander Exceed Tourer PHEV. The centerpiece of the dashboard is the intuitive touchscreen display, which serves as the nerve center for the vehicle’s myriad features. From navigation to entertainment, everything is seamlessly integrated to enhance the driving experience. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility ensure that connectivity is never an issue, keeping you in sync with your digital life on the go.

Powertrain

However, the true marvel lies beneath the surface – the advanced plug-in hybrid electric powertrain. The Outlander Exceed Tourer PHEV seamlessly blends the efficiency of electric power with the versatility of a gasoline engine. With a fully electric range of up to 70 Kilometres, it’s perfect for emissions-free city driving. On longer journeys, the petrol engine kicks in, providing the reassurance of extended range without compromising performance. (And it’s happy with 91 RON fuel too)

On the Road

Driving the Outlander Exceed Tourer PHEV is a revelation. The instant torque delivery of the electric motors ensures swift acceleration, propelling you forward with effortless grace. The ride quality is sublime, with adaptive suspension smoothing out rough road surfaces for a serene driving experience. Whether navigating city streets or embarking on a cross-country adventure, the Outlander Exceed Tourer PHEV inspires confidence at every turn.

Despite its impressive capabilities, the Outlander Exceed Tourer PHEV remains remarkably efficient. With a combined fuel economy rating of over 1.5 litres per 100 kilomtres, it sets a new standard for eco-friendliness in its class. Charging is a breeze, whether using a standard household outlet or a fast-charging station, ensuring that you spend less time waiting and more time enjoying the open road.

Safety

Safety is paramount in the Outlander Exceed Tourer PHEV, with an array of driver assistance features working tirelessly to keep you out of harm’s way. From adaptive cruise control to lane-keeping assist, the vehicle acts as a vigilant co-pilot, providing peace of mind on every journey. In the unfortunate event of a collision, a robust suite of passive safety systems springs into action, cocooning occupants in a protective shell.

Summary

In conclusion, the Mitsubishi Outlander Exceed Tourer PHEV represents the pinnacle of automotive innovation. It seamlessly combines sustainability, technology, and performance into a single, cohesive package. Whether you’re drawn to its striking design, luxurious interior, or groundbreaking powertrain, one thing is clear – the Outlander Exceed Tourer PHEV is more than just a vehicle; it’s a glimpse into the future of driving.

What Mitsubishi Has to Say

The EV Superpower

The stunning Outlander Plug-in Hybrid EV delivers eco-friendly efficiency plus pure performance on and off the road.

Its highly advanced powertrain combines twin electric motors and a hybrid petrol engine to give you the best of both worlds.

With greater battery capacity (20.0kWh) and a larger fuel tank (56L), the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid EV now has even more power and range, wherever and whenever you need it.

Go all the way, your way. Live outlandish.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV – Price

The PHEV range starts out at $61,840 drive away (Qld Price) topping out at $78,330 for the GSR. This vehicle as driven is the Exceed Tourer PHEV for $76,770. Certinaly not the cheapest PHEV vehicle on the market, but as a 7-seater, arguably a very good value for money choice. And interstingly, there isn’ any extra charge for metallic paint.

Warranty and Service

Mitsubishi was the first company to offer a 10-year factory warranty, albeit with a couple of conditions. The first is that unlike most other brands offering unlimited kilometres on a 5 or 7 year plan, Mitsubishi caps that at 150,000 kilometres and then only when your car is serviced at a Mitsubishi dealer. Capped price services offer a competitive service regime, but some of the services are expensive.

However, my strongest advice is to get your car serviced on time (or kilometres) with a dealer rather than trying to save on those more expensive services. At least until your warranty coverage has expired. If you don’t and have a concern, you’ll get into protracted arguments over the warranty coverage

Comprehensive Car Insurance – Comparisons

The first company I go to for a quote is now typically SUNCORP, but I also use others for comparisons, just to be sure.

The strongest advice I can give you is to never buy or renew with your current company without price checking. You should get at least 2 quotes to ensure that you’ve got the best deal from a reputable company. In this comparison, Suncorp is $259 cheaper than RACQ. And that’s a lot of money out of your pocket, particularly in these high cost times. Suncorp do have a variable Comprehensive Policy from Basic to Comprehensive Advantages. Advantages cover even provides a new for old lifetime cover. Amazing. (Be sure to check whether you need all the add ons). However, I also recommend that you try to check the ‘claims ability’ of any insurer. Saving a bit up front may be lost if your insurer doesn’t provide you with excellent service in the event of an accident. Google them.

When I was in primary school, teachers issued reports to show my parents and me what I’d achieved during the school year. I really liked the simplicty of the system, so thought I’d share my thoughts on the good and not so good of the test vehicle.

My favourite location for my pictures is at Brighton Park near to the bridges that cross from Brisbane (Brighton) to Redcliffe (Clontarf).

The Houghton Highway, Ted Smout Bridge and what’s left of the Hornibrook Highway are generally included. For the information of those not well versed about Redcliffe, the Hornibrook Highway was constructed from 1932 and opened in 1935. All that remains are the entrance and exit of the bridge – the tollhouses. At the time of completion the Hornibrook Viaduct (as it was called then) was the longest road viaduct, built over water in the Southern Hemisphere. The deck was constructed of ironbark timber sourced from the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

2.5 Million Superfeet of wood were transported down the North Pine and Pine Rivers during contruction.

I’m pleased to say that I was able to salvage some bridge timber from the Hornibrook Highway when it was demolished. I had built the desk and coffee table that I use today. A great memory of a heritage listed infrastructure project thats nearly 100 years old

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my new website thecarguy.com.au!

I know that there’s a lot of websites that offer car reviews, car road tests, opinions on various cars and the like. What makes this site different is that I’m not going to bore you with technical information about the various cars that I review.

I’ve been in the car business for over 39 years. I’ve read the motoring magazines cover to cover. I’ve read the online reviews until my eyes were square. Everywhere that I go, I find motoring journalists talking about car speeds – 0 – 100 km per hour, standing ¼ times, the inclination of this and that at 150klm per hour on a 12.5% gradient curve, in rainy weather – and other stuff that bores me no end.

thecarguy.com.au is taking a different path on the journey to helping you purchase a new car. I’ll do my best to advise you on what I consider to be the most important information when it comes to that major decision to purchase a car. Interior room, features of the car, fuel economy, safety, service prices, resale and lots more. I’ll tell you what I like about a particular car and as importantly, what I don’t like, to find at least to be less than I think a car should have. .

And I’ll ask for your opinion. Take some pics of what you’re driving and tell me and our audience what you particularly like or dislike about your car. Because besides prospective new car buyers, there’s a lot of people who’ll read your comments as used car buyers.

So, jump on board, strap yourself in and let’s start out on the journey with The Car Guy.
