Kia Sorento GT-Line

If you’re not badge conscious, the MY24 Kia Sorento GT-Line stands out as proof to Kia’s commitment to innovation, luxury, and performance. The Sorento has always been a popular choice among large SUV buyers, and the MY24 model elevates this legacy to new heights. With its refined aesthetics, cutting-edge technology, and enhanced performance capabilities, the Sorento GT-Line is designed to impress. This review delves into the myriad of features that make the 2024 Kia Sorento GT-Line a compelling option for anyone in the market for a largish SUV. To me there’s no other brand under $100,000 that gives you the features that the Kia Sorento offers.

What Kia Has to Say about Sorento

Refined, never tamed.

A 7-seat large SUV that puts the focus firmly on family and luxury.

More spacious, more versatile, with class-leading innovations wrapped in finely tailored style. The Kia Sorento is not only one of the most high-tech Kia cars ever made, but also leads the way in large SUV design.

Kia Sorento GT-Line Price

With the V6 engine under the bonnet, you’re limited to Front Wheel Drive. The range starts at $54,090 Drive Away (Qld) for the S model, going to $69,690 for the GT-Line V6 and upwards to $72,690 for the diesel AWD GT-Line. Mid-range is the Sport+ diesel AWD for $64,990. Prices that i’ve quoted come from the Kia Website with a disclaimer that dealers may charge more than advertised. My experience, particularly in time of short supply from the factory is that Kia dealers will charge more for dealer delivery. Go figure

Exterior and Design

The 2024 Sorento GT-Line showcases a bold and sophisticated exterior that commands attention. Its sleek lines, dynamic front grille, and striking LED headlights give it a modern and aggressive stance. The GT-Line trim adds sporty elements like unique 20-inch alloy wheels, a more pronounced front bumper, and dual exhaust tips that accentuate its performance-oriented nature. The panoramic sunroof not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also provides an airy feel to the cabin.

Interior and Comfort

Inside, the Sorento GT-Line elevates the concept of luxury in the this SUV segment. The cabin is a sanctuary of comfort and technology, with high-quality materials and thoughtful details throughout. The GT-Line’s seats are upholstered in premium Nappa leather, offering both heating and ventilation options for the front seats, ensuring comfort in any climate. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, are taken from the Electric EV9 and are seamlessly integrated into the dashboard, providing easy access to vehicle settings, navigation, and entertainment.

Space and versatility are key strengths of the Sorento GT-Line. With three rows of seats, it accommodates up to seven passengers comfortably. The second and third rows can be easily adjusted or folded down, expanding the cargo space to suit various needs, from grocery runs to weekend getaways. If you’re using all three rows of seating, there isnt a whole lot of cargo space, but with the 3rd row seats folded, it has over 600 litres of space. Well and truly enough for the trip to Bunnings or Ikea and plenty of room for 3 sets of golf clubs

Performance and Driving Experience

Under the hood, the 2024 Sorento GT-Line doesn’t disappoint. It offers a choice of powertrains, including a turbocharged 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers an impressive blend of power and efficiency. Not too far down the track, Kia will offer an eco-friendly option with a hybrid or plug-in hybrid variant, balancing performance with environmental consciousness. This V6 engine on the other hand, is pretty thirsty, but does allow 91 Ron fuel to be used and its more fun to drive.

The driving experience in the Sorento GT-Line is both exhilarating and smooth. Its refined suspension system, paired with the front wheel drive capability, ensures a comfortable ride around teh suburbs and on the highway. Of the two sister companies, Kia has always tuned the steering and suspension for Australian roads. The steering is precise, offering a sense of control and confidence. Additionally, the GT-Line features various driving modes, allowing the driver to tailor the driving dynamics according to their preference or road conditions.

Kia Warranty and Service

Kia offers a 7-year unlimited kilometre warranty on all of its models. You’re also eligible for a 7-year roadside assist program and 7-years of capped price service if you service at a Kia dealership

Comprehensive Car Insurance – Comparisons

The first company I go to for a quote is now typically SUNCORP, but I also use others for comparisons, just to be sure.

The strongest advice I can give you is to never buy or renew with your current company without price checking. You should get at least 2 quotes to ensure that you’ve got the best deal from a reputable company. In this comparison, Suncorp is $303.95 cheaper than RACQ. And that’s a lot of money out of your pocket, particularly in these high cost times. However, I also recommend that you try to check the ‘claims ability’ of any insurer. Saving a bit up front may be lost if your insurer doesn’t provide you with excellent service in the event of an accident. Google them.

Kia Sorento GT-Line The good and the not so good

When I was in primary school, teachers issued reports to show my parents and me what I’d achieved during the school year. I really liked the simplicty of the system, so thought I’d share my thoughts on the good and not so good of the test vehicle

CarExpert

My go to guy, Paul Maric from carexpert.com.au has tested the MY24 Kia Sorento GT-Line. He’s tested the diesel version, while I had the 3.5 Litre V6. His comment on the facelifted and substantially improved suspension – ” It feels surprisingly good”

Conclusion – Kia Sorento GT-Line

The 2024 Kia Sorento GT-Line is a masterclass in balancing luxury, performance, and practicality in a midsize SUV. Its stunning design, spacious and high-tech interior, robust performance, and comprehensive safety features make it a standout choice. Whether navigating urban landscapes or embarking on adventurous road trips, the Sorento GT-Line is equipped to deliver an exceptional driving experience. Kia’s dedication to innovation and quality shines through in every aspect of the Sorento GT-Line, solidifying its position as a top contender in its class.

My favourite location for my pictures is at Brighton Park near to the bridges that cross from Brisbane (Brighton) to Redcliffe (Clontarf).

The Houghton Highway, Ted Smout Bridge and what’s left of the Hornibrook Highway are generally included. For the information of those not well versed about Redcliffe, the Hornibrook Highway was constructed from 1932 and opened in 1935. All that remains are the entrance and exit of the bridge – the tollhouses. At the time of completion the Hornibrook Viaduct (as it was called then) was the longest road viaduct, built over water in the Southern Hemisphere. The deck was constructed of ironbark timber sourced from the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

2.5 Million Superfeet of wood were transported down the North Pine and Pine Rivers during contruction.

I’m pleased to say that I was able to salvage some bridge timber from the Hornibrook Highway when it was demolished. I had built the desk and coffee table that I use today. A great memory of a heritage listed infrastructure project thats nearly 100 years old

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my new website thecarguy.com.au!

I know that there’s a lot of websites that offer car reviews, car road tests, opinions on various cars and the like. What makes this site different is that I’m not going to bore you with technical information about the various cars that I review.

I’ve been in the car business for over 39 years. I’ve read the motoring magazines cover to cover. I’ve read the online reviews until my eyes were square. Everywhere that I go, I find motoring journalists talking about car speeds – 0 – 100 km per hour, standing ¼ times, the inclination of this and that at 150klm per hour on a 12.5% gradient curve, in rainy weather – and other stuff that bores me no end.

thecarguy.com.au is taking a different path on the journey to helping you purchase a new car. I’ll do my best to advise you on what I consider to be the most important information when it comes to that major decision to purchase a car. Interior room, features of the car, fuel economy, safety, service prices, resale and lots more. I’ll tell you what I like about a particular car and as importantly, what I don’t like, to find at least to be less than I think a car should have. .

And I’ll ask for your opinion. Take some pics of what you’re driving and tell me and our audience what you particularly like or dislike about your car. Because besides prospective new car buyers, there’s a lot of people who’ll read your comments as used car buyers.

So, jump on board, strap yourself in and let’s start out on the journey with The Car Guy.
