New Renault Koleos 4WD
European cars don’t just run to BMW, Mercedes and Audi. Renault and particularly Renault Koleos is worthy of your consideration as a great value for money medium SUV
WHAT IS IT?
Renault Koleos is a medium sized 5-seater 4WD SUV. With a 2.5 litre petrol engine and X-Tronic CVT automatic, it's plenty good enough for round town work as well as some off road experiences.
HOW MUCH?
Renault Koleos starts off from the Life version ($34,790 Drive Away in Qld.) to Koleos Intens (as tested) for $46,790. That extra 12k gets you a lot of extra kit - Panoramic Roof, Leather trim, 4wd, and lots more besides.
COMPETITORS?
There's a lot of competition in the medium sized 4WD SUV market. The top sellers for 2019 included these: * Toyota RAV4 * Mazda CX-5 * Mitsubishi Outlander * Nissan X-Trail. But whilst not a big seller nationally, the quality and inclusions in the Renault Koleos is worth considering.
"Renault Koleos is a stand out competitor for all the entrants in the medium SUV market. If you're thinking about buying, take one for a test drive".

SAFETY FEATURES
It might not have all the safety tech that more expensive cars are fitted with, but it does have 6 SRS Air Bags (front, side & curtain), Anti-Skid Brakes and Brake Assist, Traction Control and Vehicle Stability Control. Whilst the Baleno hasn’t been crashtested by ANCAP, sister car Suzuki Swift achieved 5-stars in 2017.
WANT ONE?
My test car was provided by Renault Australia. If you're interested in a new Koleos Google "Renault Dealers Qld" and select a dealer who has achieved 4-stars or better. Or you can call me and let me help you to buy your new car.
ON THE ROAD
Renault Koleos is a very smart commuter vehicle and equally at home on the highway. Interior cabin is very comfortable for up to 5 people 19" alloy wheels add the looks. Koleos isn't that 'look at me' styling but fits in with the market. Blind spot monitoring and a curious sounding lane departure warning system does the job. I like the auto high beam function.
The audio (mute button is excellent), telephone and media source controls are mounted to the right of the steering wheel, but once you're used to the location it's fine.
WARRANTY & SERVICE
Renault Koleos is covered by a 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty and a 5-year capped price service program. Service intervals are 12 months or 30,000 kilometres (whichever comes first) and Renault dealer services for five years total $2,715 ($543 average), but include spark plugs, pollen filter, brake fluid and roadside assistance
ON THE INSIDE
Koleos Intens has most of the tech that i want in a modern car. Leather trim, large panoramic roof, cruise control, large 8.7" Portrait infotainment and nav screen. Smart tech such as an automatic parking brake and auto lock door tick the boxes along with Bluetooth as you'd expect. And you've got automatic parking functionality as well.
- Great fuel economy
- Plenty of room in the cabin
- Powerful engine
- 4WD capability
